Heritza Jean Baptiste

Major: Cellular and Molecular Biology/Public Health

Hello, my name is Heritza and becoming a doctor has been my dream since I was just five years old. I left Haiti and moved to the United States to chase after that dream. Navigating as a pre-med and first-generation student, I faced challenges in finding the resources I needed (and still do). However, with the support of others and my unwavering determination, I was able to overcome some of those obstacles. Now, as the President of a chapter, I want to support pre-med students by sharing my experiences and making sure they don't face the same challenges. In my free time I like reading, crocheting, gardening, and playing PUBG. I look forward to learning and growing together. Here's to a successful year ahead!

My name is Rahjai Haye I was born and raised in Kingston Jamaica. I’m currently majoring in biomedical engineering at Broward College in the future I would like to transfer to Eastern Carolina University to further my studies, and I would like to become a OBGYN/Fetal surgeon.

Hi! My name is Amanda Salcedo, and I'm the treasurer for AMSA! I am a full-time dual enrollment student, and I plan to graduate high school with my AA degree! I enjoy math and medical sciences, and I plan to become an anesthesiologist in the future! I'm looking forward to managing the finances of the club and making this year at AMSA the best one yet!

Hello! I’m Naeelah Refah! I am currently a high school student enrolled full-time in Broward College, which means I’m simultaneously completing my high school diploma and AA degree. I am majoring in STEM, and after graduation I plan to attend NSU’s dual admission DO program. My ultimate goal is to become a dermatologist! I have always been interested in skincare and cannot wait to accomplish my goals!

Hello there! My name is Ethan Andrew Boutzilo! Born in sunny south Florida, I’ve always been interested in the medical field. I am majoring in Biomedical Sciences and I’m currently working at CVS. I am really devoted to the study of cardiology, so my goals are to eventually become a cardiovascular surgeon. For now, I am studying at Broward College and plan to transfer to UCF to further my studies. My hobbies are reading, cooking, and gardening, but I also have a fascination with philosophy. Meet Our Advisor

Dr. Shiv K. Sharma

Shiv K. Sharma is an assistant professor of Chemistry at Broward College, Davie, Florida. He completed his Ph.D. from the University of Miami in 2018. Previously, he taught at the University of Miami (from 2020 January to 2021 July) and Thomas More University (from August 2021 to July 2023). He received his B.S. (2008) and M.S. (2012) in chemistry from Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu. He is interested in the research of carbon-based nanoparticles, surface chemistry of enzymes, incorporating enzymes with nanoparticles with applications in biosensing, and several other biomedical applications.
