Real Men Read will take place on Friday, April 26th at eight Broward County Schools. Male volunteers are needed to read to a classroom of students, pre-kindergarten through 5th grade.In Broward County, Real Men Read serves as Real Life Positive Literacy Role Models to motivate students to "be the best they can be" give books to all students to take home and add to their home library collection, and spend a fun morning with the joy of reading Real Men Read mentors are invited to visit targeted schools to share their own love of reading, to read books aloud to students in grades PK-5, and help us distribute books. As mentors read to children, students excitedly interact with the reader by sharing questions, making predictions for what will happen next in the story, and making connections to help bring the book to life. Our Voices is an open-air Festival of Words at Delevoe Memorial Park in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on Saturday, April 27, 2024, celebrating the power of literature and literacy. The festival will showcase local creatives and world-renowned artists. The festival includes book giveaways, storytelling, panel discussions, food trucks and more.

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY REQUIREMENTS TO VOLUNTEER Volunteer are needed at The Poverello Center’s Wilton Manors Thrift Store. Volunteers will be assisting with organizing the store, sorting clothes, hanging clothes, pricing items. The thrift store drives funds to support the Poverello Center’s food distribution to the community. Volunteers must wear closed toed shoes, no tank tops, no holes or rips in clothing.The Poverello Center, Inc. provides nutritious food, services and basic living essentials with the highest degree of understanding, respect and love for individuals living with critical and chronic illnesses Including HIV, in South Florida.

  • Hand sanitizer will be available for volunteers.

  • Volunteers will regularly wash hands
